VILLAINY DROP NEW SINGLE ‘THE LAUNCH’ AHEAD OF 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

VILLAINY DROP NEW SINGLE ‘THE LAUNCH’ AHEAD OF 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Multi-award winning, top-ten charting Aotearoa band Villainy have returned with a fierce new single ‘The Launch’- their first since 2019.

Produced and recorded by UK based Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Funeral For a Friend) this is Villainy but not like you’ve heard them before. Hitting you straight out of the gate, ‘The Launch’ is an anthemic hard and fast song with lyrics exploring the struggles of letting go of self-doubt.

The new single lands just as the band prepares to head out on tour to celebrate another milestone, the 10th anniversary of their debut album “Mode. Set. Clear.” which is also seeing a re-release on vinyl to coincide with the tour. An initial pressing on pink marble has sold out but fans can still pick up an exclusive limited-edition version on clear vinyl from JB Hifi while stocks last.

Released in 2012, that album catapulted Villainy to the top of the local rock scene. With a string of hit singles including the iconic track “Alligator Skin”, the album brought home the Aotearoa Music Award for Best Rock Album in 2013. Ten years later and Villainy now have three albums under their belt, all winners of Aotearoa Music Awards. They’ve played to thousands of fans at sell out shows and supported heavyweights like AC/DC and Halestorm.

Known for their high energy, no holds barred performances, expect these shows to deliver the kind of high-octane energy we’ve come to expect from the band. “We’ve been floored by the reaction to the ‘Mode. Set. Clear.’ reissue – it’s going to be incredible to be able to present the album live to old and new fans alike. And with The Launch we’re kicking off a new phase for the band. This is the biggest, boldest track we’ve ever produced, and we know it’s going to kill on stage, plus there’s more in the pipeline for next year – we can’t wait!”
