If you happened to be strolling down Kingsland’s main drag last night, you were almost definitely heading to the Portland Public House. And probably everyone else could have heard why; bold and brassy top lines blaring from the door every time someone went in to investigate.

This pretty much sums up the gig for
Superhero Second Line, who had a packed venue constantly vibe-ing on some of the flair from the pre-TV era. Apart from the dress code; sponsored by your favourite classic superheroes, and for some reason a minion?
Returning to the Public House after a few months, I felt that the only thing missing for me was some elbow room, but that didn’t stop people finding a corner to engage in casual swing dancing. And what gig would be complete without a brassy rendition of the “Ghostbusters” theme, right?
In short, if you weren’t there, you probably heard them anyway. But that’s no reason not to go see them next time, watch this space.
