Soulful vocal group Tone6 release RnB gospel song ‘Close Your Eyes’

They’re online sensations who have performed with Aotearoa music royalty and for British and NBA Basketball royalty – now Tone6 have released their stunning new RnB gospel single ‘Close Your Eyes’.

Following on from their hit debut single ‘Another Level of Emotion’, this talented Auckland-based group has become known for their exceptional vocals, harmonies and strong messages in their music. Written by Feagaigafou Tupa’i (1 half of ADEAZE), the group says that they’ve “always been about sharing music that speaks to us personally and leaving our audience with a message of encouragement. ‘Close Your Eyes’ is about the power of Prayer, and that no matter what struggles and challenges you may go through, it doesn’t matter where you are, or what time it may be, never be afraid to pray.”

Tone6 is made up of six young vocalists, aged 18-20 years – Kirita Leavasa (20 – Samoan), Selevasio Tu’ima (20 – Tongan), Peachez Vetenibua (19 – Māori/Cook Island), Seletute Tu’ima (18 – Tongan), Viliami Tupa’i (18 – Samoan) and Shaelyn Togafiti (20 – Samoan) – who joined the group in 2020 following the departure of former member Aja Tu’ua – who had been performing with the others since 2017.

Also being released today (7pm NZT) is a powerful and beautifully filmed music video for ‘Close Your Eyes’ made in collaboration with Samuel Ling from GimmeDatCamera. “We wanted the video to feel raw and real. We’ve used people we are connected to, highlighting their personal journeys through things like baby loss, BBM Foodbank packing hampers for families in need, TwoSevenFive – who volunteer their services to the Mangere Community, Kelston Boys 1st XV Rugby Team, a dancer with a knee injury, a female league player chasing an overseas NRL dream, family loss, and a grandfather who lost his eyesight during a cricket game. We would like the video to encourage people/families to not give up, even when times get tough.”

TONE6 all met at SaintzUp Performing Arts School, an organisation founded in 2008 by Nainz Tupa’i (ADEAZE) and his wife Becks. They officially formed TONE6 after opening the Pacific Music Awards, where they were all lead singers, for the Musical ‘Moana’ Tribute for Opetaia Foa’i. Some of the group’s highlights include performing at the Pacific Music Awards, Christmas in the Park, for Prince Harry and Megan Markle, at the wedding of NBA Basketball player Patty Mills and Alyssa Mills in Hawaii, and featuring on Aotearoa hip hop legend Savage’s powerful single ‘Reach Out (Love Don’t Live Here Anymore)’. With such an impressive resume already in their young career, Tone6 are definitely a group to follow closely!
