ProjectSAM launch the ambitious Lineage Percussion cinematic percussion library

Striking while the iron is still hot from the company’s successes with Symphobia Pandora and the recent legacy library updates, Lineage Percussion’s brand new engine, sample recordings and a fresh GUI looks to be the spiritual successor to the popular True Strike series, with more than a few tricks up its sleeve.

When it comes to orchestral percussion libraries we are spoilt for choices at the moment so ProjectSAM look to be focussing its new library not on reinventing the wheel, but rather changing the way we use it.

Adaptive Sync is the Netherlands-based developers’ unique offering showcased in the recent Symphobia 4 and is being used to its full ability now with Lineage Percussion. In short, the technology allows the samples to dynamically adjust to tempo and the allocated beat length of your arrangement. A percussion roll, swell or crescendo can be squeezed perfectly into a full bar, or any division of time required.

In addition, Adaptive Sync can be set to downbeat mode, meaning the performance always ends perfectly at the end of a bar.

We found the system works very well with melodic orchestral instruments from our testing of the new Lumina and Symphobia range, but this new percussion library looks born to excel with Adaptive Sync, and from the launch video sounds excellent.

Also of note is the rather clever-looking XY Stage function, allowing you to not only manually place individual instruments anywhere on a virtual sound stage, but choose from a selection professionally engineered preset list to get you started.

Available in Kontakt core or pro versions, the latter offering more instruments and microphone recording positions, the introduction price starting under $150 USD sounds well placed in the crowded market.

Full details over on ProjectSAM’s website. Don’t forget to pick up the excellent The Free Orchestra 1 & 2 while you’re there.
