KHALID American Teen Tour Brings New Zealand Debut

KHALID American Teen Tour Brings New Zealand Debut

KHALID, the 19-year-old singer/songwriter from El Paso, Texas, announces his very first tour of New Zealand as part of his American Teen Tour this November. The melodious artist will play Auckland Town Hall in support of his debut record,American Teen.

Khalid’s hypnotic soulfulness is delivered sevenfold when he steps on stage. Captivating the room from the first beat of his band, Khalid produces a performance usually reserved for those with decades of experience. The New York Times recently praising his voice as not only powerful “but one with internal grace and calm.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am Wednesday, August 9.

Spark is bringing an exciting pre-sale just for Spark customers from 2pm Friday August 4 until 2pm Sunday August 6.

Included on pretty much every “Artists to Watch in 2017”, Khalid is no stranger to the limelight. With its dreamy production and smooth, soulful vocals, his first single ‘Location’ has garnered more than 227 million Spotify streams and latest single ‘Young Dumb & Broke’ has in excess of 57 million plays. Earlier this year, Khalid toured across America and Europe, selling out every single date before his album had even dropped.

Khalid’s knack for encapsulating a moment so beautifully in music could possibly be traced to his nomadic childhood.  With his mum serving in the military as a singer in the Army Band, he spent most of his childhood moving from state-to-state and six-year stint in Germany, before settling more permanently in El Paso, Texas. Throughout, his family proved to be a major musical influence, his mum always singing classics by Brandy, SWV and Destiny’s Child around the house. With his mother’s passion for music as a foundation, he began building toward what would his extraordinary 2017 release, American Teen.

“With this album, I want to show everyone it’s okay to have emotions, it’s okay to be happy, and it’s okay to be sad,” he concludes. “I’m throwing everything I’ve ever been through on the table. I’m giving everyone my take on high school and life.”

The story of Khalid just heated up.
