The Dandy Warhols to play two New Zealand shows this September!

Kiwi fans of The Dandy Warhols will get their first chance in nine years to see the alt-rockers live this September when they play two New Zealand shows.

Presented by Blind Tiger TouringThe Dandy Warhols are at The Foundry in Christchurch on September 19 and at the Powerstation in Auckland on September 20.

Having not played here since their appearance at Southern Amp in 2008, tickets to see the Portland band – consisting of its charismatic front man Courtney Taylor-TaylorPeter HolmstromZia McCabe and Brent DeBoer – are selling fast.

Part of their worldwide tour, the two New Zealand shows follow the release of 2016’s album Distortland.

Distortland represents the kind of mix and match bag of tricks we’ve come to expect from the Dandy Warhols… a welcome return for a band who’ve never been afraid to stick two fingers in the face of adversity” – Drowned in Sound.

Inspired by the likes of The Velvet Underground, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys, The Dandy Warhols made their debut in 1995 with Dandys Rule OK. Two years later, they followed it up with The Dandy Warhols Come Down before rising to new levels of fame in 2000 with their critically acclaimed Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia, which featured their hit song ‘Bohemian Like You’.

Never far from controversy and the focus of the 2004 documentary Dig!, The Dandy Warhols have continued to make music on their terms and have kept building on their reputation as a live act not to be missed, opening including opening for David Bowie on his 2003 ‘A Reality Tour’ and to this day, still selling out shows around the world.

There is no denying, The Dandy Warhols are a staple band of their genre, with tracks like ‘Godless’‘We Used to Be Friends’‘Not if You Were the Last Junkie on Earth’ and ‘You Were The Last High’ as adored and influential today as they were on release.

Tickets on sale now and available from Eventfinda (Christchurch) and AAA Ticketing(Auckland).
