BOSS announces the Waza Craft BP-1W Booster/Preamp pedal
In an intriguing development, Boss has recently unveiled the newest addition to the renowned Waza Craft series of compact effect pedals: the BP-1W Booster/Preamp. The pedal features the preamp stage from the RE-201 Space Echo and the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble.
I was not aware this was a thing for guitarists until I did a little research and found it’s actually one of the best-kept secrets for imparting a richer and fuller guitar tone before the signal hits your effects. This cool little pedal could become an essential part of your signal chain.
In typical Boss style, BP-1W is simple and effective in design. A single three-way selector lets you choose between RE-201, CE-1 or clean boost with an overall level and gain control knobs. The gain induces subtle saturation and a drive model unique to each mode, while the level control lets you set the incoming signal to your effects chain downstream.
A nifty switch on the rear of the unit lets you toggle between the standard or a vintage buffer with lower impedance. The vintage offers a slightly warmer tone and smoother dynamic response, ideally with a passive pickup guitar. The standard buffer is always engaged when the pedal is deactivated, a nice touch.
The street price of $169.99 USD is very tempting and should be available by the end of the month. If you get one definitely let us know what you think.
The new BOSS BP-1W Booster/Preamp will be available in November 2023 for purchase at authorized US BOSS retailers for $169.99. To learn more about the BP-1W Booster/Preamp, visit www.boss.info.
