Villainy
Since forming in 2010 Villainy have wasted no time in becoming a dominant force in New Zealand rock. Their debut album – Mode. Set. Clear. – was released in October 2012 and was produced by Tom Larkin (Shihad, King Cannons, Calling All Cars) in his Melbourne studio. To date the album has spawned three No. 1 Rock Radio singles (‘Alligator Skin’, ‘Gather Yourselves’ and ‘Another Time’) and earned a nomination for Best Rock Album in the 2013 NZ Music Awards. The record also features a striking surreal cover from coveted designer Storm Thorgerson, and was the only cover he ever produced for a New Zealand artist.
No strangers to the stage, Villainy have fast become renowned for their high energy, no holds barred performances. This reputation earned them two arena support slots for Incubus just months after their first shows and the band has since supported The Offspring, Billy Talent and played a coveted late afternoon slot at the annual Homegrown Festival in 2013. Two nationwide tours have followed, headlining an 8-date run in March and a huge 12-date run in October with Blacklistt. 2013 and has also seen Villainy making their first foray into the Australian market performing at the annual Big Sound conference and playing showcases in Sydney and Melbourne.
