Tech 21 is celebrating two decades of one of its most versatile designs with a special 20th Anniversary Edition of the SansAmp Para Driver DI, limited to just 500 units. Scheduled for release in October/November 2025, this commemorative model features an anodized, precision-machined aluminum billet housing and all-metal knobs — a premium finish for a pedal that has stood the test of time.

Originally launched in 1997 as the SansAmp Acoustic DI, the design evolved in 2005 with the addition of a Drive control and footswitchable bypass, becoming the Para Driver DI that players know today. Engineered for both studio and stage, the pedal remains a go-to solution for guitarists, bassists, and multi-instrumentalists seeking warm, tube-inspired tones in a compact, analog format.

Built for Any Instrument

Thanks to its proprietary SansAmp circuitry, the Para Driver excels at taming the harsh overtones of piezo pickups, making it especially useful with acoustic-electric guitars, upright bass, violin, cello, and viola. Beyond acoustic applications, it offers everything from vintage tube tones to modern slap textures and gritty overdrive, with the flexibility to serve in nearly any genre.

Complete Tone Shaping

The pedal provides three different outputs to cover a wide range of setups, from power amps and recording desks to PA mixers. Its control set includes:

  • Active Bass & Treble: ±12dB boost/cut
  • Sweepable Semi-Parametric EQ: Mid Shift & Mid, adjustable from 160 Hz–3.0 kHz, ±16dB
  • Blend: Mix SansAmp emulation with direct instrument signal
  • Inputs & Outputs: 1/4-inch 4.7 megOhm input, 1/4-inch and XLR outputs with selectable levels, plus a parallel uneffected out for dry signal routing

At the heart of the design is SansAmp’s tube amplifier emulation, recreating the signal path from preamp to power amp to speaker cabinet. Each unit also includes Tech 21’s integrated speaker simulation, ensuring compatibility with guitar and bass cabs of any type.

Built to Last

Like its sibling, the SansAmp Bass Driver DI, which reached its 30th anniversary in 2024, the Para Driver has earned a reputation for durability and musicality in equal measure. With this anniversary edition, Tech 21 underscores not only the longevity of its designs, but also the enduring appeal of analogue tools in an increasingly digital world.

Availability: Limited run of 500 units, expected Oct/Nov 2025.
