Soniccouture has announced the release of Polarity, a new dual-granular sampler engine designed to explore the creative possibilities of granular synthesis. The first instrument in this new series, Polarity | Tension, was developed in collaboration with the audio collective K/V (Ramon Kerstens and Richard Veenstra).

Soniccouture

Polarity | Tension is built entirely from a diverse set of source recordings, including industrial machinery, extended string techniques, abstract vocalizations, and environmental resonances. The result is a sound library that feels both intentional and unpredictable, offering textures that shift between delicate detail and raw, unstable energy.

Designed for immediacy, the instrument features four macro controls — Grain, Character, Movement, and Space — which provide quick access to a wide range of sonic variations. Each macro is pre-mapped to NKS for seamless integration with Native Instruments hardware, but users can also reassign them to any parameter for custom control. Rather than a static set of presets, Polarity | Tension presents a series of curated sonic vignettes, each designed to spark creativity and exploration.
