Following the recent launch of the Revival 4000, the Super 9000 offers the same professional-grade clarity, punch, and musical warmth that have defined SSL’s sound for over three decades.

Dual Mic Preamps with Character Options

The Super 9000 offers two world-class mic preamps: SuperAnalogue™ for maximum transparency, and Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) for controllable harmonic color. With VHD, engineers can blend 2nd-order harmonics for warm, tube-like tones, or 3rd-order harmonics for a more aggressive edge. An Input Flip function allows routing the line input through the VHD circuit, adding harmonic texture to DAW stems or outboard returns.

Full Dynamics, Switchable EQ, and Intelligent Routing

Built around the high-performance THAT 2181A VCA, the dynamics section includes a compressor with Fast Attack and Peak Detect modes (first introduced on the SL 9000), along with SSL’s classic Expander/Gate. The dynamics can be positioned pre or post EQ for full mix control.

The EQ section offers two of SSL’s most iconic designs:

  • 292 “Pink Knob” G-Series EQ: variable-Q curves for smooth, musical shaping
  • 242 “Black Knob” E-Series EQ: constant-Q response for precise control

Together, they give engineers a wide tonal palette suited to both broad tonal shaping and surgical correction.

For seamless integration, the Super 9000 includes a balanced insert point, external sidechain input, and flexible signal reordering. Users can even link two units for stereo operation or reconfigure the input path using the Input Flip feature for advanced mix routing.
