Adding some catchy hooks, a sprinkling of funk and an unmistakably catchy baritone growl, ‘Edge of the Night’ shows the band jumping to the dancefloor. A show standout from their recent stadium shows with Justin Bieber in Australia, the song makes its international debut as the band hit arenas throughout the UK with Little Mix this month.
Written during a session in September 2016, the band set out to create an authentic funk-inspired song, spending an entire day listening to old-school funk records and playing around with Juno synths and vintage pedals to create their ode to ending a hard work week with a glorious weekend of partying.
‘Edge of the Night isn’t your typical Sheppard track,” said George Sheppard. “It’s a tongue in cheek funk pop throwback to house parties and old school vibes. It’s an opportunity for us to let our hair down and try something completely different.”
‘Edge of the Night’ comes off the back of the band’s return to Australian and New Zealand radio with their most recent track ‘Keep Me Crazy’. Accolades for the track include, #1 Australian act on iTunes and Shazam, 5 million Spotify streams, Top 20 radio airplay, and TV appearances on Have You Been Paying Attention, and The Today Show.
A global priority for their international labels Decca/Universal/Republic Records, ‘Edge of the Night’ will be toured across the UK and Europe before Sheppard jump across for a promo tour of North America and Latin America. The band’s sophomore album is slated for an Australasian release in late 2017 when the band will return to Australia for more shows.
‘EDGE OF THE NIGHT’ IS OUT JUNE 23 VIA EMPIRE OF SONG / CHUGG MUSIC / MGM
