Roland has announced the release of the XPS-10X Expandable Synthesizer, the long-awaited successor to the popular XPS-10. Designed as a streamlined sibling to the flagship XPS-60, the new 61-key model brings a wide-ranging sound palette, robust performance tools, and seamless integration with Roland Cloud and the new XPS Tone Loader app.

The result is a performance keyboard that balances portability with professional-grade features, making it equally suited to stage, studio, or on-the-go music creation.

A Sound Library That Travels the World

The XPS-10X ships with more than 1,600 sounds drawn from the XPS-60 library, covering everything from grand pianos, guitars, basses, and orchestral instruments to modern synths, drums, and beyond. In addition, it includes an impressive range of regional folk instruments, enabling authentic performances in styles from around the globe.

Expanding the library is easy. The XPS-10X supports World Expansion titles via Roland Cloud, each adding new waveforms and tone data. Collections span instruments from India, Mexico, South America, Southeast Asia, and more. Expansions can be managed using Roland Cloud Manager on a computer or directly from a mobile device with the XPS Tone Loader app for iOS and Android.

Designed for Performance

Like all XPS instruments, the XPS-10X is built with playability and durability in mind. Its expressive 61-note keyboard delivers a responsive feel, while the rugged chassis is ready for the demands of touring. Players can even power the synth with a rechargeable mobile battery, making it a true grab-and-go instrument.

The front panel has been designed for speed and efficiency, giving performers immediate access to sound selection, editing, split/layer functions, arpeggiator, and chord memory. With 256 Scene memories, entire keyboard setups can be stored and recalled in seconds — ideal for quick transitions during live sets.

A standout feature is per-tone scale tuning, allowing players to set custom tunings for each sound individually — a powerful tool for world musicians working in microtonal scales.

Creative Tools for Modern Musicians

The Audio Player function makes it easy to perform with backing tracks, using a USB flash drive and the onboard eight phrase pads. Pitch and playback speed can be adjusted independently, giving full control on stage. These versatile pads also double as triggers for onboard drums, imported samples, or as part/mute selectors for the eight-track step sequencer.

For digital workflows, the XPS-10X offers a class-compliant USB-C audio/MIDI interface for plug-and-play integration with computers and mobile devices. Deeper DAW control is also built in, letting users map panel functions to software instruments and recording tools.
