Reason Studios makes the classic vocoder sound accessible, creative, and fun.
Reason Studios’ newest Rack Extension, the BV-X Multimode Vocoder was released today.
“Vocoders are truly unique effects, but they have always been a hassle to use, requiring several connections to even get sound. With the BV-X we’ve focused on making it easy to set up so the producer can focus on what’s creative and fun: manipulating the effect and finding your own, great sound,” said Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Music Making Product Manager at Reason Studios.
● Vintage and Modern mode, for both crunchy classic vocoding and unsurpassed precision and clarity
● Built-in custom synthesizer for simple set-up with a great sound
● Powerful modulation matrix for dynamic vocoding and creative sound design
● Tailor-made effects for production, vocal twisting, and special effects
● Comes with 150+ vocoder and vocal processing patches ready-to-go
BV-X Multimode Vocoder is a new Effect that makes the classic vocoding sound accessible. The built-in powerful synthesizer is custom-made for the vocoder and allows producers to get a great result with just a few simple steps. Enabling Auto Play means you don’t have to play any MIDI notes—BV-X will track along with your voice. However, the user is always in full control and the possibilities for playing and shaping the vocoder sound are vast.
“BV-X is called a Multimode Vocoder for a reason,” says Mattias Häggström Gerdt. “For quick usage as a vocal effect Auto Play is perfect. You can even snap the tracking to a scale and play in-key vocal harmonies on your keyboard. For more traditional vocoding, simply turn off Auto Play and play the notes you want. If you have a favorite synth already, you can use External Mode to connect any external signal as the carrier—from within Reason or anywhere in your setup.”
With two distinct vocoder modes, Vintage and Modern, BV-X covers everything from classic vocoder sounds to realistic vocal harmonies, to sounds you’ve never heard from a vocoder before. The built-in wavetable synth has everything you need to get classic vocoder sounds in seconds but offers 20 wavetables and a harmonic mixer for even more tonal variation. Add an effect section with an 8-voice unison, six effects tailored for creative vocal processing, and a lush reverb, and you’re not starved for sonic horsepower. Whether you want the retro- futuristic sound of robot voices or impossibly dynamic vocoding where everything responds to your input signal, BV-X delivers.
BV-X Multimode Vocoder is immediately available for Reason+ users or as a separate purchase (USD $99 / EUR €109) through Reason Studios’ add-on shop. Available exclusively for the Reason platform, it can be used in both the Reason Rack Plugin (VST3/AU/AAX) and the standalone DAW.
