Reason Studios has announced the release of Osmium Distortion Matrix, a cutting-edge distortion device that combines the precision of a multiband processor with the freedom of a modular effects core.
Designed to sit perfectly inside the Reason Rack, Osmium gives producers detailed tone control and endless creative possibilities.

Osmium lets users sculpt sound with a modular-style workflow while retaining the musical warmth and grit Reason is known for. Whether you want a touch of analog-style saturation or full-blown speaker-ripping chaos, Osmium offers the tools to make it happen.
Modular Control Meets Classic Tone
At the heart of Osmium is a nine-slot modular matrix that allows full routing flexibility. Users can patch effects in series, parallel, or even feedback configurations, reordering modules in seconds. The device includes four distinctive distortion types – Saturation, Overdrive, Wavefolder, and Bitcrush – alongside complementary tools like filters, dynamics, EQ, and creative FX. This setup makes Osmium as versatile for subtle mix coloration as it is for experimental sound design.

Multiband Mastery
Osmium features three independently processed frequency bands, giving producers the ability to target specific parts of the spectrum. The modulation matrix includes two LFOs, a curve sequencer, an envelope follower, and full CV control. Shape your bass distortion while keeping the low end clean, create unique movement across bands, or add subtle harmonic flavor across an entire mix.
Built for the Reason Rack
Like all Reason devices, Osmium feels right at home in the Rack. It integrates seamlessly with CV and modulation routing, and external effect loops allow you to patch in any other Reason device directly. With over 200 expertly designed presets and Osmium-specific algorithms, the device carries a distinct Reason character – precise, playful, and endlessly tweakable.
