Renowned for pushing the boundaries of synthesizer effects and sound design, Noise Engineering is back with Batverb, a stereo reverb that reimagines traditional space and atmosphere processing.

Noise Engineering has never been one to create conventional effects—each of their releases is as much an instrument as it is a processor. Batverb continues that tradition with an expressive set of parameters that morph effortlessly between tight slapback delays and cavernous, infinite reverb tails.

A Fresh Approach to Reverb“Batverb was inspired by our Desmodus Versio module, but when we set out to bring the Desmodus experience to guitar, we quickly realized we needed a completely new approach,” said Stephen McCaul, Chief Noisemaker at Noise Engineering. “While Batverb shares conceptual DNA with Desmodus, it’s an entirely new design—rebuilt from the ground up to complement the tonal and dynamic characteristics of guitar.”

Kris Kaiser, Noise Engineering’s Doer of Many Things, added, “We wanted to make something that felt amazing on guitar, but the final result works incredibly well across a huge range of instruments.” With stereo I/O and full MIDI integration, Batverb isn’t limited to just guitarists—it’s a powerful tool for any musician looking to explore uncharted reverb textures.

Not Your Father’s Reverb

Kaiser describes Batverb as “not your father’s reverb,” and with its deep feature set, it’s clear why. In addition to traditional controls like predelay/delay time and regeneration, Batverb includes unique tone-shaping tools. The Grit switch introduces harmonic distortion to the reverb tail or the entire signal, while Doom and Shimmer add subharmonics and shimmering overtones. Adjustable highpass and lowpass filters allow precise tonal sculpting.

Batverb’s footswitch functionality offers flexible real-time control. The Bypass switch can either cut the reverb tail immediately or mute the input while allowing the tail to decay naturally. The Infinite switch locks the reverb into a continuous feedback loop, creating an endless atmospheric wash.

The innovative Duck switch dynamically interacts with your playing, either ducking the reverb to maintain clarity or shaping its dynamics to match your performance. With support for 16 MIDI-controllable presets and a convenient MIDI thru jack, Batverb integrates seamlessly into modern setups, offering automation and remote control capabilities from DAWs and MIDI controllers.

Key Features

  • Separate Doom and Shimmer controls add in chaotic suboctaves and haunting overtones
  • Low-pass and high-pass filter settings for the reverb tank allow you to add filtering and harmonics to reverb tails
  • Built-in dynamic distortion can apply to only the wet signal or the whole output
  • Onboard dry/wet Blend control and input- and output-gain parameters
  • Unique Duck switch controls the reverb’s behavior: duck out of the way of an input signal, or match the dynamics of your playing, similar to a gated reverb
  • Create instant atmospheres with reverb-freezing Hold footswitch
  • Route the expression input to any parameter on the pedal
  • Configurable bypass
  • Store and recall 16 different presets and recall them with MIDI program-change messages.
