IK Multimedia has announced Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II, a major evolution of its acclaimed T-RackS plug-in, now available as a standalone release. Powered by IK’s Volumetric Response Modeling (VRM™) technology, the new version captures the iconic Studios 1, 2, and 3 at Sunset Sound with remarkable spatial accuracy and realism.

Designed to go beyond traditional convolution reverb, Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II recreates how sound behaves in a physical space. It responds dynamically to position, direction, and acoustic conditions, delivering the depth and movement heard on decades of classic recordings.

What’s New in Version II

Key Features:

  • Up to 27 distinct live room source positions per studio
  • Directional and omnidirectional source modes
  • Dual independent reverb engines with parallel routing
  • Advanced size control with per-channel EQ
  • 336 stereo impulse responses from live rooms
  • Variable acoustic dampening in Studios 1 and 3
  • Modeled analog signal paths for added harmonic character

True 3D Source Positioning
Version II introduces a fully sampled Live Room Positioning System, offering up to 27 unique source locations per studio. Each position is captured as a real acoustic event, preserving early reflections and spatial detail. Move the source, and the room responds naturally, adding depth and realism that static impulse responses cannot replicate.

Studios 1 and 3 also include modeled variable dampening, allowing users to adjust decay and tonal balance in a physically accurate way, just as engineers would in the real rooms.

Dual-Engine Architecture
Two independent reverb engines run in parallel, giving users the flexibility to combine live rooms, chambers, iso booths, plates, and spring reverbs. Each engine includes its own EQ, stereo controls, and routing options, turning the plug-in into a powerful spatial design tool rather than a simple room emulator.

Advanced Size Control
The Size parameter dynamically scales impulse responses from 0 percent to 200 percent while preserving tonal integrity. This allows engineers to reshape spaces to suit a mix, from tightening room reflections to expanding them into cinematic environments, all while maintaining realism.

Directional and Omni Modes
Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II models how different sound sources interact with a room. Directional Mode suits focused sources such as vocals or guitar cabinets, while Omni Mode is ideal for instruments like drums or piano. These options enhance depth, improve blending, and help mixes translate more effectively.

Expanded Capture Library and Analog Character
With 336 stereo impulse responses captured from the live rooms alone, Version II significantly expands its sonic palette. IK has also modeled Sunset Sound’s console signal paths, offering selectable analog-style preamp options that add warmth and tonal depth to any source.

Built for Modern Workflows
A redesigned 3D interface provides clear visual feedback and fast control over positioning, routing, and acoustic parameters. The result is a smooth workflow that keeps creativity front and center.
