About the Instrument
The piano, a 1907 Blüthner Style VII restored in 2021, was selected by Marcus for its harp-like clarity and remarkable dynamic range. Its versatility allows composers to play soft, intimate lines that resemble a living room upright, or strike powerful, lyrical notes that effortlessly cut through larger arrangements. Essentially, it’s the warmth of a felted piano without any of the traditional limitations.

Fracture Sounds brings its signature sampling expertise to Lighthouse Piano, including full control over hammer, pedal, and pianist noises. The library also includes a vintage Harmonium, performed by Marcus on his latest album, Legendarium, adding an extra layer of musical richness.

Studio Environment
The piano resides in Marcus’ home studio, a converted cotton mill with high ceilings and exposed brick. The room’s L-shaped layout and mezzanine minimize excessive reverb, giving the instrument a naturally resonant yet controlled tone, ideal for close-mic recording.
