RX, Ozone, Neutron and Nectar join Boris FX’s growing portfolio of audio production tools
Boris FX has announced the acquisition of iZotope, bringing one of the biggest names in intelligent audio technology under the same ownership as a growing collection of professional audio and post-production tools.
For anyone working in audio, film, television or broadcast, this is a significant development. iZotope’s RX and Ozone have become deeply embedded in professional workflows, while products including Neutron and Nectar have established the company as a major player in music production and mixing.
The acquisition gives Boris FX an unusually broad presence across both sides of the post-production process, from visual effects and compositing through to audio repair, mixing and mastering.

A Major Name in Audio Joins Boris FX
iZotope has spent more than two decades developing tools that use machine learning and intelligent processing to solve some of the more difficult problems in audio production.
Its flagship RX suite has become a go-to solution for repairing and restoring problematic recordings, with applications ranging from dialogue cleanup and noise removal to film and television post-production.
Ozone, meanwhile, has established itself as one of the most widely recognised mastering platforms in music production. Alongside Neutron and Nectar, the products give iZotope a substantial footprint across recording, mixing, mastering and post-production.
Boris FX founder and CEO Boris Yamnitsky says the two companies share a similar approach to professional creative software.
“iZotope is one of the most respected names in audio, pioneering developments in machine-learning-assisted audio.”
Yamnitsky added that the companies’ combined expertise could give creators a single partner covering both what they hear and what they see.
Boris FX Already Has Deep Audio Roots
Although Boris FX is best known for visual effects, the company is already well established in professional audio through its ownership of Samplitude and Sequoia, along with Sound Forge, ACID Pro, Music Studio and AI-focused CrumplePop.
The addition of iZotope significantly expands that portfolio.
It also gives Boris FX access to iZotope’s machine learning research and technology, potentially strengthening its position as an independent provider of intelligent tools for music, film, television, broadcast and content creation.
For users, the interesting question will be what happens when these technologies begin to overlap. Boris FX now has products covering everything from audio repair and restoration to mastering, DAW workflows and AI-assisted processing, alongside its established visual effects technology.
What Happens to Existing iZotope Products?
For the immediate future, there is no change for existing customers.
Boris FX says all iZotope products, licences and subscriptions remain fully active, with support and product development continuing without interruption.
iZotope will operate as a business unit within Boris FX, with its core engineering, product and support teams remaining in place. That should provide some reassurance for users who might otherwise be concerned about a major change in ownership.
Todd Baker, VP of Product at iZotope, described the acquisition as an opportunity to accelerate the company’s work in intelligent audio technology.
“In Boris FX, we’ve found a partner that shares our obsession for driving creative tech forward.”

Part of a Much Bigger Shift
The acquisition also comes at an interesting time for the music technology industry.
iZotope was previously part of Native Instruments, but that relationship has now changed following inMusic’s acquisition of Native Instruments, completed on June 30, 2026.
The Boris FX and iZotope transaction therefore represents another significant reshuffling of the professional music software landscape.
Boris FX now finds itself with an audio portfolio that stretches from traditional DAW and mastering technology to some of the industry’s most recognisable AI-assisted processing tools. The company also gains one of the strongest brands in audio restoration and mastering.
The real significance of the acquisition may become clearer over the coming years as Boris FX begins bringing its various technologies and development teams together. For now, however, the headline is straightforward: one of the biggest names in intelligent audio has found a new home, and Boris FX has suddenly become a much bigger player in professional audio.
