Austrian Audio is heading to AES 2025 in Long Beach to showcase its latest innovation, the CC8-SC, a precision-engineered supercardioid pencil microphone designed for accuracy, focus, and natural tone.
Building on the success of the company’s acclaimed CC8, the new CC8-SC offers a supercardioid polar pattern for enhanced directionality and superior rejection of off-axis sound. This makes it ideal for detailed recording scenarios such as orchestral spot-miking, acoustic ensembles, or any application where isolation and clarity matter most.

At its core, the CC8-SC features the OCC7 true condenser capsule, inspired by the legendary CK1, and paired with transformerless circuitry to deliver a clean, detailed signal. The mic offers an exceptionally wide dynamic range, handling sound pressure levels up to 155 dB SPL while maintaining an impressively low self-noise of 13 dB (A). The result is an open, natural sound that stays smooth and distortion-free, even at extreme volumes.

Visitors to AES Booth 211 are invited to stop by, meet the Austrian Audio team, and experience the CC8-SC firsthand.
Key Features:
- True condenser capsule for detailed sound reproduction
- Precisely tuned supercardioid polar pattern for focused pickup
- Transformerless design combining classic sound with modern technology
- Excellent off-axis rejection for accurate imaging
- Factory calibration ensures any two CC8-SC mics are matched within ±0.5 dB at 1 kHz
- Rugged all-metal construction for professional use
- Switchable high-pass filter (60 Hz or 120 Hz)
- Switchable pad (0, -10 dB, -20 dB) for distortion-free recording up to 155 dB SPL
Beyond its sonic performance, the CC8-SC is built for reliability. The tough metal housing protects the sensitive components inside, while onboard pad and filter switches make it easy to adapt to different recording environments on the fly.
Pricing and Availability:
